to trace the surface of the earth 2024
These photographs depict human presence in the environment and physical darkroom processes. This project aims to emphasise the importance of the photographer being a human, in response to the increasing use of AI to create photographs.
This work speaks about the ways humans have affected our environment, through small scale repetitive movements creating desire paths, graffiti scratched into a bench and bike trails into grass.
Test strips from the darkroom are included in the final book to highlight the photographer creating the work and the time and effort that is involved in the darkroom printing process. They highlight human error which I believe is integral to the creative process.
