in the twlight and when the sky is clouded
2025 - ongoing

This project is a material exploration of my great-grandfather’s archive of five hundred glass negatives, documenting family life in England, during the 1930’s-1950’s. Through sustainable analogue photographic techniques, I explore connections between youth and industry, and create photosculptures speaking to the destructive history of photography.

I speak through the materiality of these pieces, to the relatives I never got to meet, and the ones I wish I had longer with.

Works in this series are titled using borrowed phrases from the archive, taken from early photographic manuals, to represent notions of time and ephemerality.
